SLUDGE CANAL is a stupid little hour-ish long comedy game, that I created solely because I saw a Bluesky post reading "everyone should make a game in RPG Maker once". It's closer to an interactive narrative than a serious RPG.

This game is for you if the pressure to conform,  fear of sticking out, or avoidance of meiwaku (the fierce anxiety in Japan against inconveniencing anyone, in any way, ever) has ever led you to suppress your desires / life decisions / personality / fundamental parts of your identity. And especially if those suppressed urges have ever welled up and possessed you when you least expect them.

That was me, not long ago. In that sense, SLUDGE CANAL is something like personal reflection. It comes from the struggle I once had between composure and impulsive desire, between hating myself and spoiling myself. But whether you relate or not, I hope it makes you laugh!

※ This game contains frequent adult humour and very, very, very poor taste throughout. However, there is no nudity or explicit content shown (although they are mentioned in dialogue). So don't play SLUDGE CANAL if you are under 18, or if you're looking for a porn game.

A DISGUSTING LIFE IN THE WORST OF TASTE

A menace runs beneath the streets, from Azabudai to Ueno... the Sludge Zone, a surreal realm of luminescent green ooze and disgusting creatures. Whenever they burble up and threaten to send the citizens of Tokyo into a frenzy, the Japan Counter-Sludge Agency is called to scrub, spritz, shame and harangue, until the sludge slouches back underground.

Lieutenant Nagato is the quickest draw in the JCSA, composed, conformant, and charged with a searing hatred for anything meiwaku that might annoy anyone else - on the clock, anyway. After all, alcoholic benders are just the way you deal with workplace stress in Tokyo. She lives (and crashes out) by an irresistible hunger for the approval of her beloved Captain.

Then, on a routine mission, a powerful sludge creature declares Nagato unworthy - of what? - and plunges her into the uncharted abyss of the deep Zone. Even worse, duty and fate bind her to SLUDGEBOY, a buck-naked, person-shaped creature. They couldn't be less alike: he's deranged, cowardly, and ruled by impulse, and his memory has been sludged over by an equally-irresistible hunger to stare at boobs (or pecs, he's not picky).

Armed with only Nagato's furious invective, SLUDGEBOY's knowledge of underground Tokyo, and a pair of industrial-strength neoprene gloves, she must find a way to lead them to the surface... if they don't annihilate each other first.

P.S. Just to set the tone, I saw the term "sludge canal" in a yaoi hentai.
